Anything Goes Mondays #79

Last weeks' linkups had quite a variety of projects to choose from, but the ones I chose to share with you today, got my attention from the start. This stunning Tulip Quilt is by Lea Anne from Podunk Pretties. I was completely drawn to this quilt and just had to share it with you today. I absolutely LOVE the design and the border is simply amazing, something totally different!

This fun Sewing Machine design is by Deana from Daughters of Dorinda, she has the pattern to this fun block available in her etsy store.

This X Plus Masterpiece is made by Janet from Simply Pieced. I absolutely LOVE the scrappy look!!

Great Granny Squared #1

I recently purchased both 'Great Granny Squared' and 'Quilty Fun' by Lori Holt from Bee In My Bonnit. I was completely drawn to the fun, bright and cute designs I've seen on Instagram. It was hard to decide which pattern from both books I wanted to start with, but chose to start with one of her Great Granny Squared table runners.

So, after cutting all of the background fabric pieces I was ready to start. I am not working with a direct plan for each block, I just grab some pieces of fabric that I think will go together, cut what I need and start piecing them together.

For some time I had no idea what I was going to do with all of my fabric scraps that I've accumulated over the past few years, so at least now I will be able to make good use of them. For the time being I have finished 5, 6½ blocks.

...I will share more blocks as I've finished them.

A Special Gift for a Special Friend

My best friend and sewing buddy has been away for a couple of months now, touring through the southern parts of Africa and South Africa, and during this time she left her sewing machine for me to use and for safe keeping while they're away.

Looking at the picture below her Bernina B580 looks remarkably bigger than my little Artista, keeping in mind that my machine is dropped inside the table. There is not much difference between the two machines except maybe the sleek modern design and a few technical advances.

Anyway, I wanted to give her a little something I knew she did not have. She's been sewing and quilting most of her life so it was pointless to give her more sewing supplies. Believe me when I say that her sewing room is filled with anything and everything you'll ever need for any type of sewing. So it got me thinking, she would always cover her machine with a towel at the end of the day when she closed up her room. So I decided to make her something pretty instead.

To finish it off I made a pincushion and scissor pouch that matches. If you want to make your own scissor pouch I wrote a tutorial some time ago that you can fine HERE.

It felt really good spending some time in my sewing room again after being in a bit of a lull these past few months, I guess I needed a bit of push and encouragement which is exactly what I got from all of the comments that was left during last week and this weeks' link ups. It means so much that so many of you care, that so many of you take the time to read and comment on my blog. I was surprised that there are even some of you share my feelings and are going through the same and emotional struggles even if our situations are not completely the same.
