Great Granny Squared #4 - Final Touches

I am finally done quilting my Great Granny Squared table runner.  I just love this little quilt, it's fun, bright and I am very happy with the scrappy look.

The pattern is from Lori Holt's (Bee In My Bonnet) book Great Granny Squared .  I am very tempted to make a set of three quilts to hang side by side, the same way as is featured in one of the pictures.

I used a very simple swirl design to quilt it.  I was aiming for texture instead of custom, detailed quilting.  I was scared it would distract from the granny squares blocks if I had quilted tiny different designs.  It's the first time I quilted a design at a larger scale and was pleased at how fast it got finished.  Quilting larger designs was a bit tricky on my home sewing machine, as movement is easier (for me) when quilting small designs, but this is a small quilt, so there was very little drag or limitations.

I am however a bit undecided regarding the binding.  While I was busy making this quilt, I was so sure that the blue with red strawberries would look great, but when I folded it over the edge of the quilt to see what it would look like, I am not entirely sure it works well.  Now I have two choices, and I can't decide which looks best.... any thoughts?

This beautiful Autumn Leaves Table Runner is by Amanda from The Cozy Pumpkin.

This beautiful Wrapped Gift Quilt was made by Esther from ipatchandquilt.  I suggest that if you have not visited her link to head on over to her blog post, her free motion quilting is breath taking!

This little Iquilt Mini by Janet from Simply Pieced.  She used reversed appliqué and the result is really pretty!

Great Granny Squared #3 - Last Blocks Completed

I have finally completed all of my little great granny square blocks.  They where so much fun to make, but it got a lot trickier as I was getting closer to finishing them.  Deciding which fabrics, colour and prints would work well together is not my strong suite, but I think when placing all of the blocks together they really work well.

It is really hard picking a favourite, I love them all!

I cant wait to see this little quilt stitched together and quilted.  It is going to look so cute!
If you'd like to see all of the blocks I made you can find them here and here.

Anything Goes Mondays #83

My apologies for the delay in this weeks' link up.  Our internet was off from Saturday and it was only restored this afternoon.  I hated not being 'connected' but it was remarkable how much more quality family time we got to spend together over the weekend, not being distracted by social media...
