FMQ Friday

The kids went back to school on Wednesday after having a holiday that lasted over a month.  So my week started out very busy, driving around all day, buying school supplies and sorting out paper work at their schools.

I'm glad its all over and done with!  One thing that really annoys me is when either of them come to me late in afternoons with "Mom I still need....." or "Mom, can you please take me......".  Oh well, it's all part of being a mother :-)  I am very happy that I don't have a full time job to go to, otherwise I would not have time for any of what I'm doing now - no wait - this IS a full time job!

In between all of that I still had time to free motion quilt.  As I'm still busy with the quilt I posted last week (here), I cant yet share any pictures of the front, not until the birthday is all over with anyway.
So I thought I'd share some of the free motion quilting I have done.

These are taken from the back of the quilt.  One thing I know is this, I need a lot of practice on travel stitching, I went all over the place!

Lucky Star BOM - Funky Star
Easy Tote Bag Tutorial
In between all the school arrangements and free motion quilting, I still had time to work on my Lucky Star BOM.

I even made a tote bag, and wrote a FREE pattern that you can find here.

All and all I am quite happy with the time I got to spend behind my sewing machine this week.  Hopefully I can get this quilt I'm working on finished this coming week, so I can start with "Express your Love".  At least I have some fabrics set aside, although I am still undecided about the background.

Happy quilting.

Your quilting looks abolutely wonderful to me! I'm still struggling to get the simplist patterns evenly spaced and stitched, never mind travel stitching! Just going to take a look at your tote bag pattern. I made my first two this week using a technique I found on the Missouri Star Quilt Co. website.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and beautiful work.

Last year I went through a lot of personal issues and this year I want to make it a great one. I have set a lot of goals for myself, one was to do a tutorial, even if its something as simple as a bag. Now I want to do even more...

Your quilting is great! So uniform and consistent, something I strive for but have yet to master.

Thank you Karen, one thing I should learn to do, is plan ahead 'what' I want to quilt, with this quilt I just fell into it without any idea what I really wanted to do.

Your quilting looks great! We're our own worst critics aren't we? My big issue is keeping a consistent scale throughout a quilt. I'm doing the Lucky star BOM too! Look forward to seeing yours throughout. Are you tempted to do a quilt as you go method for these too?

You are so clever. Showing the back of a quilt instead of the front when it's a surprise. Unfortunately, I have one project for the year that is so secret I can't even do that. Shhhhh..... I'll show it next Christmas : ) (No, it's not that intricate a quilt, but I want it to be a total surprise for the recipient.)

I think your quilting looks very good. I like all the designed you are using in the quilt. The back is a whole cloth work of art too!

I look forward to seeing your Express Your Love quilt. Thanks for visiting my blog. I will post some more info on colored pencils, so if you like, stop back in a day or so after I get that together. : )
