Quiltec Fabrics are SA Wholesalers to a wonderful range of Batik fabrics from Indonesia printed on 100% java cotton. These fabrics are colour fast, the colours do not run and also do not fray easily. They also stock a wide range of notions and books which do not always make it to the website due to time constraints. Their selection of fabric is not only limited to the batiks, they also have a lovely range of white on white and cream on cream fabrics as well as various others.
The shop is open 3 mornings a week and on the 1st Saturday of every month. A newsletter is published twice a year with a 6 month program. Anyone wishing to receive one only need to sign up on their website www.quiltecfabrics.co.za.

Dorothy's quilt shop is situated in Epping, Capetown South Africa.
Dorothy was from a very young age exposed to colour and texture, brought on from
her mother who was a magnificent seamstress, and her father who was a
confectioner whose exquisitely detailed iced embellishments for cakes and Easter
eggs transformed her to imaginary heights.
From that moment on, she was hooked on colour, texture and love for the
very finest and most beautiful of creations.
She began her sewing
career at the elbow of her mother, watching and helping her trace and cut her
creations. When she became a mother
herself even her daughters wore handmade dresses, smocked or/and embellished,
even her boys loved their unique and individual T-shirts. Their homes were always adorned by her
personal home decor projects.
In 2009 she decided to
launch a retail outlet that previewed only the best quality and most desired
fabrics and notions, with a target market being the contemporary quilter/creator
who wanted something individual, lovely and affordable. Dot’s Quilts was born, and the response has
been overwhelming.
