Hearts & Feather wholecloth

So, my hearts and feather whole cloth is done!

I enjoyed every minute working on this little quilt with Leah on the free motion quilting project.

One thing I should have done differently was the binding.  I tried (for the 1st time) to do a blanket stitch when I added the binding, and I think I should rather have done it by hand.  The stitch itself looks great, but my hand was not as steady as I would have liked. Next time for sure, I'll add the binding by hand..

Here, my baby girl Kayleigh (11 months old) took the quilt from my hands and when she put it down on the carpet, she climbed on top... so cute!

I think the blanket stitch looks fine. I do prefer the hand stitched look on binding, but recently, I have taken a liking to a machine stitched binding too. Neither of my machines have a blanket stitch, so I just went with a zig-zag. looks like you have the seal of approval from your little darlin'!

Thanks, she loves to play with the little scraps of fabric that end up on the floor, she's very demanding, so I do most of my quilting at night when she's asleep...

Thank you, I need a lot of practice with binding, I did not take any photos of the back, as the stitching does not even line up with the binding.. oops! But I will give it a go once I'm a bit more confident.. I have trouble getting my 1/4" seam just right...

Thanks, my 1st quilt I made was for her, and whenever I throw it open, she's on top pretends to be sleeping ♥

Wonderful job - and how great that your little one will have memories of you quilting built into her childhood!

If you can find a 1/4 in foot for your machine, get one! it will make your life soooo much easier. I never had one before this year, and I love it! It was fairley affordable($14, too considering some of the optional feet for my machine run $30-$60! When you machine stitch on the binding, it is very hard to get it to line up perfectly if not impossible, from front to back. that's why(if you machine stitch it on) you attach it to the back first, then use your choice of stitch on the front. So you know it will be pretty on the front. But seriously, your binding looks great!
