From Scraps to something Pretty!

I can't imagine sticking to just one project at a time. Don't get me wrong, I love quilting, its my absolute most favorite pass time, but I am totally honest when I say, I get bored doing just one thing at a time.  Quilting or piecing a large quilt can take a few days of long hours to complete.

So for me doing just one thing for days, can become a drag.  So when I got about half way quilting my Double Slice layer Cake Quilt I felt I needed a break and started working on some cute mini quilts / items to hang in my sewing room.

I really like how the dresden plate turned out.  I pieced the petals together using the english paper piecing technique.  It was fun and quick to complete.  I was a bit undecided whether or not to quilt or hoop it.  But the hoop clearly won the battle.  I used selvage edges I started putting away for just something like this that I rolled around the outer frame of the hoop.

Its fun making something that can be finished in a day.  I just know that this might become very addictive and it might be a new obsession brewing.

Me too-I have to have more than one project going, but I think I overdo it sometimes with tooooo many projects at once! How clever is that cute little hanging-very nice!

Very pretty. I love your idea of wrapping the hoop! I'm glad I'm not the only person with project ADD.

This is so pretty, really love it. And such a good way to use up scraps. I always need a few smaller projects and lots of variety too!

I've never made a hoop project, but I've seen a few lately that really tempt me. Yours is gorgeous! I love the fabric wrapped around the wood. It's a great way to frame the piece and looks much fancier than the plain hoop.

I can understand exactly how you feel. I have always been a one project at a time kind of crafter. But I am going to have to start doing other things while working on quilts. Your dresden plates turned out beautiful. Love the stitching and the way you decorated the hoops. Fun and cute!!!

Your Dresden Plate is beautiful and I like how you finished it on the loop. Creative and easy to hang!
I'm also glad to read that I'm not the only one with more than one project. For my part, I always have one quilt project, one emboidery piece and one knitting or crochet in progress. :-)
Have a great weekend!
